Description
Steiner's Lower Carb High Protein Rigatoni are low carb, high protein pasta that you cook just like regular pasta, with a completely different nutritional profile: 1 g of carbohydrate per 100 g uncooked, versus about 71 g for durum wheat pasta, and 26 g of protein, twice as much as regular pasta (about 13 g).
The secret is the recipe: durum wheat semolina is replaced with oat fibre and wheat protein, bound with whole egg (from free-range and barn-raised hens in Bavaria, according to the brand) and a touch of konjac. The result is pasta that is high in protein and high in fibre (57 g per 100 g uncooked, 23 g once cooked), with only 130 kcal per 100 g of cooked pasta. Protein contributes to a growth in muscle mass and to the maintenance of muscle mass.

Rigatoni, large ridged tubes, are made for generous sauces: creamy parmesan and pea sauce, bolognese, four-cheese sauce… They also hold up perfectly in the oven for a low carb pasta bake topped with tomato sauce and mozzarella.

Steiner's was founded by Matthias Steiner, Olympic weightlifting champion, and Inge Steiner. After his career, Matthias wanted to lose weight without giving up bread and pasta: finding nothing both low carb and tasty, the Steiner family created their own products, now made by Steinerfood in Austria and sold in Germany and Austria.
Suitable for a low carb or ketogenic (keto) diet, this pasta lets you enjoy a real pasta dish while sharply cutting carbohydrates. As it is very high in fibre, introduce it gradually if you are not used to it.
